Yes, you can lose your permanent resident (PR) status.

What happens if I revoke my GCKey?

Remember: When you revoke your GCKey, you will not be able to use it for any Government of Canada service.

How do I revoke my permanent resident status in Canada?

You can lose your permanent resident status if:

  1. an adjudicator determines you are no longer a permanent resident after an inquiry or PRTD appeal;
  2. you voluntarily renounce your permanent resident status;
  3. a removal order is made against you and comes into force; or.
  4. you become a Canadian citizen.

How long it takes for parents to get PR in Canada?

The processing time for the Parents and Grandparents program is based on how long Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) expects to process complete applications already in the system. The projected processing time for the program is 20 to 24 months.

Can I have two GCKey accounts?

Yes, if you wish to do so, you can use a different credential to access different Government of Canada services. However, you will need to remember which credential you used with each of those services.

Your GCKey can expire. The system requires you to use your GCKey at least once every two years, otherwise it will expire.

GCKey is a Government of Canada managed service that uses electronic credentials (usernames and passwords) so you can access federal government services online. The GCKey service can be used for those who do not have, or choose not to use their online banking credentials with a Sign-in Partner (SecureKey Concierge).

How do I recover my GCKey account?

Go to the sign-in page for GCKey and you’ll be able to create a new password after you answer the password recovery questions you previously set up while registering for a GCKey. If you lost your GCKey username, you will have to create a new GCKey.
