What is an SOL test?

SOL tests in reading, writing, mathematics, science and history/social science measure the success of students in meeting the Board of Education’s expectations for learning and achievement.

Is there an SOL for environmental science?

There are two strands for Earth science (including some environmental science), two for life science, and two for physical science. The sixth grade SOL have been revised to focus more on Earth science and environmental science.

What SOLs do 12th graders take?

SOL EOC tests are given in 9th through 12th grade at the completion of various courses, including reading, writing, algebra I, algebra II, geometry, biology, chemistry, earth science, world geography, Virginia and United States history, world history I, and world history II.

What sols do 4th graders take in Virginia?

The annual SOL testing is administered as follows:

  • SOL Reading: 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
  • SOL Math: 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
  • SOL Writing: Fifth and eighth grades.
  • SOL Science: 3rd, 5th, and 8th grades.
  • SOL History/Social Studies: Third and eighth grades.

Is there a science Sol?

Science and history SOL are administered in grades 4, 5, and 8 and at the end of completing high school courses in these respective subjects.

Will there be SOLs in 2022?

Schools will be assigned a rating of “Accreditation Waived,” the same rating assigned for schools for 2020-2021 under a wavier issued in April. Accreditation ratings are based on performance during the previous school year.

What is a bad score on the SOL?

Standards of Learning test scores range from 0 to 600, with scores below 400 considered failing, 400-499 being proficient and 500-600 being advanced.

The PDF version will contain the answer key for all items in the test or test item set. The PDF documents for tests and test item sets released in spring 2015 and spring 2014 show images of the test items as they appeared in an online test format.

Are there full released tests for Sol courses?

Test item sets rather than full released tests are being provided for some SOL courses since the test item bank for those courses cannot support a full release. Raw score to scaled score tables cannot be provided for the test item sets because they do not represent full test forms.
