Does NBN need to be activated?
No matter your connection type, all technologies have the same activation process if the premises has previously been connected to the nbn™. For nbn™ device installations, the technician needs to sign off that nbn™Co have completed the appointment. This may not occur straight after the appointment.
How do I know when my NBN has been approved?
To check the status of the NBN in your area, enter your address in the check your address tool on the nbn website. If you’re in a fixed wireless or satellite area, you’re not required to connect to the NBN as Telstra will continue to maintain its network in these areas.
What happens on NBN installation day?
The nbn technician will try to connect your premises to the nbn network either off-site or at your property. An English speaker who’s over the age of 18 needs to be present during the appointment time, just in case the nbn technician needs to access your property to complete the connection.

An NBN Co standard installation allows for 60 metres of cabling from the street to where the Utility Box is placed on the outside of your home. The NBN Utility Box should be placed in a location easily accessible, off the ground, and clear of obstructions.
