Is Geodon a high risk medication?

Safety Announcement. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning that the antipsychotic drug ziprasidone (marketed under the brand name, Geodon, and its generics) is associated with a rare but serious skin reaction that can progress to affect other parts of the body.

Does Geodon work immediately?

This depends on what you are using it for. Some improvements may be seen in as little as 1 to 2 weeks. However, it can sometimes take up to 6 weeks to see the full benefits of the medication. When ziprasidone is working well, you may notice that your thoughts are clearer and more organized.

Does Geodon cause weight loss?

Can you lose weight on ziprasidone?

Ziprasidone has been reported to cause weight loss and reduction in serum lipid levels19,20. Olanzapine is one of the most frequently prescribed antipsychotic drugs, with proven efficacy for schizophrenia symptoms21-23.

Is Geodon good for depression?

Geodon is used to treat schizophrenia and the manic symptoms of bipolar disorder (manic depression) in adults and children who are at least 10 years old.

Can Geodon help with anxiety?

Ziprasidone flexibly dosed from 40 to 160 mg/day will reduce anxiety symptoms significantly more than placebo in patients with bipolar disorder who have a full or subsyndromal diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

Can I push Haldol IV?

HALDOL DECANOATE MUST NOT BE ADMINISTERED INTRAVENOUSLY. A syndrome consisting of potentially irreversible, involuntary, dyskinetic movements may develop in patients treated with antipsychotic drugs.

How long do you push IV Haldol?

What happens if you take Geodon on an empty stomach?

The dose may be increased over time to achieve the desired effect. Ziprasidone should be taken with food (for example, shortly after a meal) since when taken on an empty stomach, much less ziprasidone is absorbed.
