Your essay should be typed and double-spaced on standard-sized paper (8.5″ x 11″), with 1″ margins on all sides. Include a page header (also known as the running head) at the top of every page.
Submitting the Coalition Application does not confer any admissions advantage. No preference is given to either application. It merely gives applicants more options. For most students, submitting Apply Texas may suit them better if they’re applying to schools mostly in Texas.
Is applying to 15 colleges too much? It probably is. Based on the numbers given for how many reaches, targets, and safeties your student should have, he/she should consider applying to 7-10 schools with maybe one or two more if you can’t narrow down the list.
When you are applying to college, be practical. Most students should apply to somewhere between five to seven colleges. There are no guarantees that you will be accepted to the school you desire, but you should have a good idea about your chances of admission to each school.”
If you don’t get accepted to any school you’ve applied to, you still have some options: You can go to a community college and then transfer—sometimes after a semester, but usually after a year. You can apply to a college that offers rolling admission—sometimes as late as the summer after your senior year.
The College Board recommends that high school seniors narrow down their application list to five to eight schools. It’s okay to stray a little outside this range, but as a general rule of thumb you should aim to reach those numbers because sending more than ten applications can have drastic consequences.
